The Story
During the "Woodstock Period" River's art included documentation of artists and events as well as his own creative works. The period began when friend Mike Mitchell suggested he attend poetry readings hosted by Max Schwartz at the Tinker Street Cafe. River slowly became a regular part of related creative activities. Ironically the Interview with Max was the last of that period. River was a member of the Woodstock Guild, the Woodstock Poetry Society, and attended regular guitar circles and open mics. His movie making projects were no budget creative explorations. Preoccupied with a new realism he forged on with the help of poets, songwriters, and volunteers. His visual art included landscapes of the area.
