This painting was a hand-shake with Picasso. The title is a reference to 5 women in my life at the time, who are represented in the painting. It was ironic that I got criticism from (non art world people) as to the crudity of the painting. there are many lessons I learned from Picasso. One of them was that at the beginning of discovering a new form, the initial works are crude. This is due to the rough approximations which are necessary to define the vision. In other cases, what looks like crudity may in fact be part of the vision.
